Genetic testing | Autism PDD

I am so happy for you. It is always nice to KNOW that you have a great doctor. I feel the same about my ds's psychiatrist. He is awesome!!

11 pills a day, OMG! There is no reason for a child to have to take that many pills in a day. Especially when there are so many drugs that cover a variety of problems.

I am very glad that you have a new doctor, he seems to know what he is talking about.

As far as the genetic testing, my ds went through it also, and I was told that they were trying to rule out any and all genetic defects and Fragile X Syndrome.

Good luck and keep us posted.
My son's doctor referred Jacob to get genetic testing and see a ped neurologist.  I am still unsure why.  What can they find out with the genetics?  I know why for the ped neuro.  That one is to do a brain scan to see if there is any changes.  A year ago my sons psychirist was fired and at the time and before I kept questioning all the meds that he was taking (at the time it was Ritalin, Lithium and Risperdal) I saw my son revert backwards.  Now he is with a new dr and he is a less is best.  We start with mild dosages and work up.  And now after 9 years my son is FINALLY on meds that stabilize him.  He went from 11 pills a day to a total of 2   1/2 pills a day and its working.
