That's great!!  Having a special-needs child puts life into a different perspective- doesn't?  You really find out what your made of!Jackie:

My wife, son and I recently joined a neighborhood swim club so that our son could maybe meet some kids from his new school, [He starts mainstream kindergarten in our local school with a small amount of support to start with from the ASD staff] and we have met 6 families with kids on the spectrum at the pool!

Our Tyler is still pretty much his "own boy" and not seeking out new playmates a whole lot yet, but he likes being around the other kids and he is sharing his toys willingly, so I consider this a victory.

How old is your Tyler? Everyone here has a different coping mechanism to keep sane while on this ride and I think that it's cool that your religion is keeping you sane and serene while you are living life as a parent of a boy who is on the spectrum.Glad your boy enjoyed the pool party.  Great going.I just want thank some of the parents for giving me some advice . I felt so alone thought maybe I was the only one out there .My son went to a pool party tonight and had a fun time but we live in a small town in northern Ohio and everyone thinks world of Tyler . He did so well . I think if I did'nt know Jesus Christ as my personal savior I would be lost because before I lived a pretty wild life I think knowing god as my personal savior makes a big differnce in your life when you have to deal with a mentally challenging child .
