Hi everyone
I have a potty question for you, how do you potty train a non-verbal child?
Devin is 3 yrs old, he will go pee about 90% of the time when you take him to the toilet ( every time he goes to the room they sit him on the potty) I know he is still really young, but HOW do help them learn when they need to go?
Non-verbal or not, what worked for you?
I would guess this question comes up alot, but any advice would be helpful
Hi! - If you go to the search icon and type in "Potty Training," you'll get a lot of threads on the subject. The following are some helpful potty training resources from Norway Mom:

At Babies R' Us they sell Gerber waterproof training pants you can put over their underwear, that's what I've been using for my 2 yr old.

Neither of my kids could relax enough to do that until much later. The way things are, it seems like your child can be pretty much "trained" if brought to the bathroom on a good schedule, but in the long run you want toileting independence and I think this is what you're asking about.
Translating bodily signals and communicating them can be a challenge for your child, but I'm sure you'll find something on my list of potty resources (link provided by WIMom above).
Good luck with everything.
P.S. What worked for us was normal potty training at age 4 plus/minus. We sat our children facing the tank at first, so they felt steadier and could see what was going on when they peed.
thank you rpna
