Welcome Robin! Thanks for sharing your good news!
My kids really respond to music! Of course
the kinds of music have changed over the years but it has always been a
great tool to draw them out of their shells! I have a 16
year old with aspergers and an 8 year old with HFA and a
boy and girl not on the spectrum. They all love to sing and
perform on stage, especially the boys.
I hope to hear more from you .....I check in here every once in awhile.....summer is busy!!! bonnie
Hello fellow forum members,
I'm a new mom on the block--Robin. I just had to share this with others who would understand how exciting this is for me.
I was sitting here reading some of the stories in the forum while Lil "J" (my cute
14 year old autistic son) was watching one of the tapes he made of his
favorite thing in the world HORSES, HORSES, and more HORSES when all of
a sudden he started singing. When he sings he sounds like a
little robot but to this mother it is music to my ears. The first
sentence I've ever heard my son say was "Tie my shoe please."
The only other he has said was "Mommy leave", when he was kicking me out of his room
.
Other than that he uses "one word" sentences (I guess I can say
that--because all he needs is one word and I understand exactly what he
wants).
I just love that little boy (teenager--oh my goodness) and his brother
Hol-D (Lil "J" can't say Holland so he says Hol-D and it has stuck) so
much. Hol-D is ADHD, boy talk about energy. I could send
him to see President Bush in D.C. and my 8 year old could solve the
energy crisis

.
I've used up enough space. Everyone have a great weekend.
That's so great!!! I love it when my children sing. Thanks for sharing that great story!! Oh...I know what you mean about the ADHD thing..I have a 13 year old with ADHD and he could join your son in that campaign..LOL By the way...welcome to the board...Hope to learn more about your boys soon. Take care,
Karrie
How wonderful! I can imagine how happy you must be.
It's great when our kids show us a little more just how sweet and special they are, isn't it?
