Hi. I just wanted to share two wonderful websites, both run by Aspies. They are a wonderful place where Nuerotypicals are welcome with their questions. What better source for information than those who experience what it is like to have Aspergers or Autism first hand. It will open up your world to what it is really like for them, help you to better understand and help your child who is on the spectrum. Hopefully their kindness in sharing will come back to them, through enhanced respect and better understanding yielding their improved treatment in and by society overall. Anyhow, here are the sites. If you come, please do so with respect. I hope experience will be mutually enlightening and beneficial for all.
First site is www.aspiesforfreedom.com. There is an NT/AS question forum built in. Ask and they will answer. There is also an AS chat room, but they do allow NT visitors. If you visit, I'd suggest you , out of respect, identify yourself as such and ask their permission to stay.
Second site is www.wrongplanet.net . Again, there are message board threads and an Aspie chatroom. Same rules apply.
My son is now grown and I initally took him to these sites so he could communicate with others like himself. I have gained everybit if not more from the experience than him. I would have given a great deal to have this type of information available when he was young. It would have helped so much in understanding him and how to help him.
