Anyone here in So. Florida? | Autism PDD

Hi there!  I am new to the forum and I have a son who is three and starts a special preschool on Monday.  I was just wondering if anyone else here lived here in my area (Southeast Florida - I'm in Coral Springs) and maybe had a child who attended this preschool.  It is the Baudhuin Preschool; it's affiliated with Nova Southeastern University and Broward County schools.  I am really excited for my son to start there. Up to now, we haven't had any type of services geared specifically for children on the spectrum.  Over the last year, he's had private speech therapy weekly, and just attended the PALS program (Preschool Activities and Language Stimulation) through Easter Seals.

We are hopeful that we will see big improvements in our son (he's on the milder end of the spectrum).

I look forward to getting to know everyone!!

Hi Jen Just wanted to Welcome you to the board! There are several members here from Florida, but I'm not sure of their exact locations... I'm sure they will post or PM you if they have knowledge of the school you mentioned. Good Luck with your son's first day of school, and please let us know how it goes. There are many members here who's kids are starting their first day of school here soon too... maybe you can all help each other with tips and support each other through the worries.

Jen, Hi I just wanted to say that I do live in Florida.  However I live in Central Florida not the Southeast.  That is actually one of the counties that my husband and I considered when we were researching schools.  Because of the terrible services my son was getting in the county we lived in, we moved to another county.  We ended up choosing another county because they have a special school geared toward Autism.  I bet you will be happy with the school though.  I remember I heard many good things about Broward County schools.
