Video EEG starts tomorrow.. Please update us on test done today:)Thanks everyone for the support and suggestions. I really
appreciate them and knowing that I am hot alone in this makes all the
difference in the world. One of the things that I know I need to
do is to work some of the ABA programs into our everyday life. He
has mastered one program so far and that was to sign "Give me".
We used his binky (his best friend) as the reinforcer and we did it
whenever he dropped it on the floor. It took him no time to
consistantly do it and quickly transfered it to getting food and other
things he really wanted. I know he can do it and that is what
really drives me and I am sure most of you crazy too,Beofre I ramble on all night about this let me say thanks and good night Hi all, I don't post very often but I love reading this board. Everyone here is so supportive and very encouraging. My ds (25 months) is scheduled for a 48 hours video eeg starting tomorrow. He has been having some seizure like activity while going to sleep and his neuro just wants to check it out before she changes any of his meds. I am not looking forward to it. We will most likely be in the same hosptial room that we spent 2 1/2 weeks in during Feb wired to the computer and not being able to leave the room and even allowing him to walk around the room is very difficult with all the wires. Ds loves to wander around and has very little interest these days in doing anything that has him use his hands. Right now his ball pit and Elmo chair are his favorite toys. DH has to work half days so he won't be around to help out. I am so worried about what they are going to find or not find. He has been getting 7.5 hours of ABA a week among other things and he is starting to come around. However this mornings session was terrible. He didn't want to do anything. He went from 90% for pick it up to 10% today. He just kept pushing the koosh ball back to his theraoust and not picking it up. This just drives me crazy. For those of you who have used ABA have your children done this? Thanks for listeing and if you could keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days I would greatly appreciate it. Wow I would be interested to hear the results! Good luck! Good luck with VEEG!! I hope you get some answers! I don't know if this will help keep your son occupied, but we ususally go to the dollar store or get some real cheap toys like matchbox cars, puzzles, etc and wrap them up like presents...they don't hold Mason's attention for very long, but we buy quite a few that it does help A LOT!! That and a lot of his favorite snacks! Mason too will do great one day in therapy and then the next day show no interest or even that he can't do what he was doing previously, I know how frustrating it is! Just hang in there! Wishing you lots of luck and you are definitely in our thoughts! Please keep us posted to how it goes! Big hugs! My son has a 2 day eeg coming up in September and it not going to be easy to say the least. Good luck and let us know how it goes. With the ABA my son gets at school he can be 100%one day and the next give them nothing. He has to have lots of novelty with the materials used so they change them quickly. My son's video EEG was done at a Children's Hosp. in Miami and they were great. The kept stopping by the room to see if we needed anything and brought my son lots of little toys. He actually had a great time and still talks about "cords on head". Luckily, there weren't any sensory issues with that, but he does love cords and outlets which I have posted about before. Actually, that's probably why he did so well - it's his obsession! I hope you get a great staff - that can make all the difference.... Our results were neg. The dr. told us it's mostly to rule out seizures, we were so nervous because he kept having staring spells but it was nothing. Let us know how he does :) |
