Evidence of harm | Autism PDD

i'm intrested in the genetic aspect since i have one child dx'd,another in the assesment stage and my older son recieving help for social skills issues i have also noticed in the past few years just how many ASD tendancies my dh has. I know that there are people who say we are all autistic to some degree but i find it it very strange that my husband has the signs and so do all 3 of my kids. This is on my list of questions for the neuro when we see him later this year Jack had baseline genetic testing done when he was a baby but he is 6 and a half now so i'm sure things have changed plus maybe it needs to be a specific test they do i'm not keen on the idea of starting the whole test thing again(been there done that got the tshirt, read the book...)however i cannot quite lay to rest the theory i have that the has to be a better explainantion for why jack is like he is based on the fact that surely to god no child could be this unlucky (he has PVL,ASD,epilepsy,LD,asthma, nutritional concerns, chronic bowel problems,1 stroke and 3 bouts of accute cerabella ataxia) maybe it is me that needs answers for myself rather than jack.I do think though that genetics play a part in ASD,and i'm rambling again, sorry but it is so nice to find a board where everyone understands

Heres a link Transcript From Meet The Press 8/7/05

While I was pleased that someone [finally] actually gave a half hour to this topic...no commercial interuptions...I was really disappointed that Kirby did not speak NEARLY as much as the President of the IOM....who flat out lied on several occasions and never did answer if the IOM would reopen the studies since new reports have been published that they did not consider.  (and let's not forget that the IOM depended on one report written by a man who was funded by TWELVE pharma companies.)

Thank you though for letting us know this was on!

This is great news!  The more the mainstream media gets ahold of this, the better our chances become of the use of thimerisol being put to an end!  AND now maybe those "other parents" will not think we are nutz anymore!  ;)

For those who believe autism is completely genetics and NOT Vaccine related consider this ........

Causes of Autism

Evidence of Harm author David Kirby will appear this Sunday morning, August 7, on NBC's Meet the Press with Tim Russert. Please check your local listings for broadcast time in your area.  IOM director Dr. Harvey Fineberg is scheduled to appear along with Mr. Kirby to debate the controversy presented in Evidence of Harm regarding the link between mercury-containing vaccines and neurological disorders such as autism and ADHD.

NAA has sent the following letter to Mr. Russert to thank him for airing this critical topic. We encourage you to take a moment to thank him as well and tell him a little about your family's situation.  Any information you can share regarding the amount of mercury received through vaccines, regressions occurring after mercury-containing vaccines were given, chelation results, etc. would be helpful.  Here is the link for your letters to Meet the Press:

As we all know, the story of what happened to our children has yet to attain the type of mainstream media attention it deserves.  When a program with the visibility and acclaim of Meet the Press decides to devote time to it, we know we're making progress.  We need to let Mr. Russert and his producers know they're onto something big and encourage them to fully investigate the thimerosal issue.

Sincerely,
The NAA Team
