Some encouragement | Autism PDD

I haven't been on here for a while, but I do check in once in a while.  If you look back to my past postings, I needed so much help and support.  This was a great place to come to and find support and friends.  I still have good days and bad days, but at least the number of bad days have gotten better. I see there are a lot of new members and I still see some old ones that I miss. I just wanted to let you all know that we go through different seasons and there is hope that it will get better, but it takes time.  I want to let all my old friends, I miss them and hope they are well.  You wouldn't believe how far I've come and what all I've been doing to promote autism awareness.  Please ck out my site and let me know what you think about it.  Go to www.intropaces.org

Take care and God Bless,

Joy Carey

Hi joyful, I checked out your site, loved it!  How wonderful of you to start this in your community. It will help many people lean how to deal with the Dx of ASD. I go to a support group and I remember how I felt the first time I was around a group of people in the same boat as me, I cried on my way home because I finally found people who understood what we were going through. Glad your back with a good update and hope you continue with your progress. Nice to hear from you.

Good for you, Joyful!

I could so have used that kind of support in the beginning.  I was SO panicked -- God knows what damage I did (according to DH) in talking to others about our dx in the beginning.  I was shocked and horrified, trying to reconcile my perception of dd with what I was reading. I know insulted at least two people ... but that's a long story.

How great Joy!

I recently just found a support group in our area, unfortunately they are on summer break...I'm looking forward to this fall when I can meet some new people...I only know one person in my area who's son has autism...we are both new to this...thanks for thinking of us newbies!!  It can be so overwhelming sometimes!

Thank you for the replies! I know how hard it is in the beginning and when your at your wits end.  Just recently, I had a real eye-opener of a experience.......My support group had a picnic for all autism families and individuals in our community and I noticed how the older ones did and I was given some hope that it can get better, but it does take time.  I just am trying to be productive in a positive way and working on making a difference, one family at a time!

I pray that all families can have a place to go to and  relate plus help one another.

Take care,

Joy
