how many hours of therapy my kid need? | Autism PDD

Yes, that does sound like good progress.  I've been told that my girls don't need intensive therapies, too - but when you look at the progress some of the kids around here have made with ABA (KathyK's, Shelley's, MamaKat's, and others) it makes me question that.  Btw - i was late getting the therapy ball rolling, too - so you're not the only one who's held off a bit too long.ABA, ABA, ABA!!!!I agree that ABA is the best.  My son's last two private therapists, ST and OT, incorporated ABA into everything and he responded to it quickly.  He never got it through the school district and it was such a waste of precious time.  It really gets them to comply and attend which is what they need to LEARN.

hi fred

my son was diagnos at age 3 and because i was in a big shuck i didnt start any therapy until he was 4 . i couldn't pick up the phon and make appointment for him all i did was crying , anger and.......

in one year of therapy he had he made lots of progres.

he wouln't say no words but since last june he has almost 250 words to communicat, he do any puzel in like 5 minuts

he memoraze 2-3 song cds in one week, if you show him his cards from 2 years ago he knows in minuts how many of them are missing.

his physchologist think he is so smart but i think this issues are common in any autestic kids

ABA works miracles in language department..much more than speech therapy!IMHO:)lili - how much progress has he made under the current therapy schedule?  There are different measures for progress, and language isn't everything, but a five year old who cannot speak in sentences is more than 'mildly' affected, so, unless there's been a lot of improvement with the current schedule, I'd seriously question if what they're doing is sufficient.  Can you get something more intensive - like ABA?  What are your options?fred39276.3943518519

my son is 5 mild autism very picky eater he has los of words to communicate but still doesn't have sentences. and also he is not very good at receptive language , very poor in that area. but he doesn't have any behaiver at all except laghing and echololia with no reason. he sees speech, ot, and his physchologist  once a week an hour each and he is at special eduction classes 3 day a week for 3 hour a day. I was going to add his therapy hours but all of his therapist telling me no he has enogh but i want him to be ready maybe he can attend normal first grade calss. so i dont know what to do? any suggestion about mor therapy the better result?

I would try to get the school to add ABA or Floortime as well, even if it is just for a while as an investment.  If not, I would pay for it myself as much as I could
