Good luck, your ABA therapist will be a good resource at the meeting, sounds like your ready .

Linda

Don't sweat about the house stuff- no body notices that stuff but us mom's anyway

I offered coffee and lit canldes too- main thing is keep your child fed and comfortable as it is long. Mine lasted about 3 hours at home and it was great to have them all in the living room on the floor, ottoman, couches, etc., so Lucas could run around in his environment and watch TV in the middle of interacting with them. It does help to have a list prepared on paper or mentally prior to the meeting so you don't forget anything due to nerves.

Good luck!

All I can say is know your rights!  The wrightslaw website is the best.  You'll do fine!  I've learned so much on this forum searching the word IEP.  Our first meeting was in an ugly portable.  I wish it would've been at my house! You sound very prepared, bravo on having that list ready! Hope all goes
well, let us know.

OK, y'all, tomorrow is Jason's IEP meeting.  I am extremely nervous about it, as it's going to be in our home.  I've got a chore list about a mile long, and I know it's going to be tough to get it all done, but hey, whatever.

Anyway, I'm sitting down with DH tonight and going over the draft assessments with him.  I've given him the highlights, but he hasn't read it, yet.  I'm planning on making a laundry list of concerns I think should be addressed, so we have it handy for the meeting.

So, cleaning and making this list is what I'm planning to do for the meeting.  I'm also thinking about whether or not to offer some refreshments (besides drinks, of course, you know lemonade or something).  Anything to make things as comfortable as possible for everyone.  I don't want to start off on the wrong foot, kwim?

Anyway, I'm soo anxious I'm sure I'm overlooking something.  Anyone have any idea of other things I should be doing, or should have done for this meeting?

Thanks!!

No ideas, sorry...I never had an at home IEP.

Just want to wish you luck...you sound like you are very prepared already!!  Just relax and you will do great!!

Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes!

I cleared my livingroom of all stuff to make room for all of them:). Offered coffee/tea..I had some bowls of nuts:) Lit some candles and put my shihtzu in kennel and cats in other rooms:) Had my notes and ABA therapists with me to help answer questions...it was 5 hours long so dress comfy.  I also had toy items Sarah liked and snacks for her to keep her on task without screaming...she did really good:) They are going to be very busy assessing your child one by one..while the one specialist is assessing your child the others will be interviewing you..taking turns:) I am glad my therapists was there to help me...I am a nervous wreck with people!
