I took Sarah to the mall yesterday and they had a new indoor playland with jungle gym with rock mountain, hockey table, playhouse, enormous screen TV with comfy couches, tricycles, playstation area, fish tank,,,basketball hoop..ect.. the deal is...you pay to leave your child there by the hour~they wouldnt let me stay with her. I told them she was HFA and what kind of experience they had...they told they deal with all special needs kids including autism and very aware of how to deal with them and always they have at least 3 attendents with them all the time..this was totally open view space but it had a locked door so your child cant escape:) They even offer snacks if you allow them to...I was hesitant but Sarah wanted to go play so bad...so I did it!
Now I wouldnt do that everyday...but...once a week for an hour or two would give me such a nice break...The manager told me they have them in malls all over? I never heard of them...just thought I would pass it on:)
IT is really spread out & open too so not too overstimulating for our kids.
Sarah loves the mall but hates to shop so this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship!
Make sure you utilize it often, especially since she enjoyed it soooo much! We don't even have a Mall where I live, much less something like this!
ENJOY!!
Shelley - what's the name of the place? We have some huge malls in urban sprawlsville, NC - maybe we have one of these locally? I'd use the whole three hours/day, personally :)That sounds cool. See, she was okay and had fun! Have some faith in her and don't worry so much.WOW that is really great Shelley! I have never heard of that before, we do not have one in either of our malls. That would be SO nice.WOW!!!! That sounds awesome!!! I live by the 2nd or 3rd largest mall in America, and we don't have one of those. My son is so scared of the mall, that we never go. My older two love to go to the mall. If I had this service available, I would definitely use it once a week to go out to dinner with my kids and hubby. You're so lucky!!It is just called "Playland" ?
When I get a new digital camera I will take pics and post them:) I never heard of them either? I was getting real edgy and grumpy this weekend because I could NOT please my 6 year old and my 16 year old dd's without fussing from both of them..this will be a nice break and will allow me to spend more time with my teen that likes to shop and has taken a backseat to Sarah's endlesst therapies over the years:)
Edited to add: I found their link:) pics are kinda dark~these look like another malls pics even though it is listed under ours..I never saw a bounce house??

That sounds GREAT! I need one of those. I haven't looked at the link, I will need to check it out. My boys always look for me though. They are so afraid I am going to leave them they don't normally let me out of their site. Don't know if it would work. But it would sure be worth a try.
Fred how did you go about finding one in your area?
