jennifer, my son at age 2 had to have his 2front babyteeth removed after he fell and chipped them both. they started to decay fast. he did the same thing bit his lep got blister after blister finally the dentist suggested sugar fee lolly pops to try to distract him from this behavor it took about a week and it worked.
Thanks for the information. TJ has to get caps on 3 of his front teeth as soon as the insurance says alright(dumb state insurance) because he has to be put to sleep because of sensory issues with his mouth. I have to admitt the state insurance in Indiana has a "family helpline" that actually gives you specialist covered by the program. So TJ saw a pediatric dentist that specializes in special need kids and he is phenominal! Even my girls liked him and are crying to go back. Let's see how long that last when Teryn has to have a cavity filled and a cap next month! I tried a regular dentist but it was a major no go with any of the kids. Sorry his lip bothered him so much- it is so hard to figure what is bothering them sometimes.

I noticed a while back that Zach had a cavity between his two front teeth. We have been seeing a pediatric dentist for handicapped kids for years but when dh lost his job we had to go on state aid. While the insurance thru the state is great (pays everything 100%) for the kids, we are limited to who we can see. So seeing that our regular dentist does not take state insurance we had to find a new dentist that see's small kids. This was not easy and this new dentist can not sedate kids. It was impossible to find one. She was very good with him for the exam and did not require anything of him that she absolutely didn't have to do. No exrays no cleaning, just an exam to verify the cavity I suspected. We set up the "fix it" date for yesterday at 1 pm, nap time, she used laughing gas to relax him before shot's for pain or anything. They let me hold him and help as much as possible. One thing I didn't count on was that he did not like the numb lip afterwards. He has chewed on it since. The teeth are not bugging him one bit, his lip is. He's chewed on it so much that he has a huge blister and sore on it that is scabbing over and his lip is swollen twice the size it should be.
I just feel so bad now I wish I could make it all better. And he's just not "getting it" when I say not to bite it. :::SIGH::: the trials of mother hood!
