Assessment tomorrow! Not ready! | Autism PDD

The only think that I didn't have that they wanted was the original assesment that EI did when he was 2.  I guess so that they had a pt of reference.  Otherwise, stay calm and you will do great.

Dont drink too much coffee:) I had my ABA therapist present so she did most of the talking:) I wrote down pertinent things so I wouldnt forget them..I wanted a totally unbiased evaluation so I gave just the facts and tried to keep emotions at bay. They were so busy with Sarah..I played a tiny role in the whole thing.

Sarah did really well for the 5 hours they were here..too good!

She didnt qualify for anything but speech for 30 min. a week. Hopefully Liam will get more services than this..You will do fine:)

Light some candles in livingroom, drink decaf. tea and practice deep breathing exercises:)

i found having my son's developmental history, quirks, and whatever
documentation i already had on him written down in front of me helped
me to remember what i wanted and needed to say. other than that there
was nothing i could do but have him go through the assessments.

LWill keep you in mind heart and prayer tomorrow YepperBepper - PLEASE let us know how it goesTake a DEEEEEEEP breathe, relax, wear a favorite summer top, serve ice tea if you want, and just BE YOURSELF. Pray for accuracy. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

I can't speak for anyone else, but giving as detailed and as accurate a history as I possibly could is what they asked of me.  Other than that, there wasn't anything else I needed to do.  Any other suggestions?  Um, if you aren't sure, maybe you could try calling your local ARC or get in touch with someone else in that vein, and ask what you can expect at the assessment, too.  I don't know how old Liam is, but if he falls under E.I., you might ask your services coordinator, too.  Mine was really excellent and helpful.

Getting ready for the IEP, however...well, that's a whole other kettle of fish!  Good luck, and let us know how it went!

Hello all.  As some of you may have read, Liam's assessment was scheduled for late July.  Due to a cancellation, they will be coming to my home tomorrow.  Speech teacher, developmental teacher and SpEd manger will be there.  I haven't been able to confirm the time as we played phone tag throughout the day.

To make a long story short, I don't feel prepared.  With the exception of providing historical developmental information, do I need to do anything else?  I want to make sure I do this right as I know this can have great affects on my Son's outcome.....btw, I live in PA.
