Sometimes I fantasize about a huge group of us and our children showing up on somebody's doorstep to get these kids appropriate interventions.  How inconvenient would a group of our kids be in some legislature's office!! The jumping the "eee-eeing" the fact-giving, the spinning.....I can just picture the chaos.  We stay until treatment gets approved!  Ha!

This was actually done in Madison to show support for Governor Doyle's proposal to require insurance companies to cover autism related expenses.  It was called March on Capitol Steps and was organized and sponsored by several of the service providers in the state.  So far nothing has been passed, but I honestly believe it is only a matter of time.  Several states have already passed legislation.

I also think it's important to write/e-mail/call your represenatives.  Let them know what is lacking in your state, and how things could be improved.
