in support of my move to MT and... | Autism PDD

We could start our own tribe.  It wouldn't matter because Autism is a man-made label, and unless the criteria were the same, the level of awareness, services, etc were all the same, we'd be comparing apples to oranges.  A cultural and historical overview of autism is presented in the book 'Unstrange Minds', if you care to delve into the subject.I agree, it all makes my head spin. It really could be anything, I think.
Does anyone know what the rates are in other countries, esp 3rd world countries, compared with America? I would be curious to see if countries without pesticides, foods with lots of fillers, plastics, ect. Have similar rates

I wonder if the tribes that still exist in the amazon have kids born with autism? ....and would it be considered a bad thing?

I have about 6 books to read on autism so the above book will just have to wait:)

When I first saw Fred's post, I thought of a commune - remember those?  Yeah, we should start one! Why, yes I do. I have often thought about the good old days

I also saw a documentary at the library that had to do with vinyl siding.  I haven't watched it yet, but again the jist was it's not the best thing in the world to have on your house.

A lot of people think carpeting is horrible because of the chemicals in it.

I don't know about you, but a lot of our neighbors hire yard service companies to spray chemicals on their lawns so they are weed free.  What is that doing to our water supply?  Also, the chemicals have a bad smell.  What is that doing to me if
I breath it in?

It all makes my head spin.

...living in a cabin and eating high quality, natural food and use only natural products :)

Yet another cause for autism discussed, but I liked the underlying message, and the combination of causation theory and acceptance is an interesting combination, rarely found, accept in the most superficial ways, in most similar discussions.

I drank only purified DISTILLED water my entire pregnancy, ate only organic fruits grains and vegetables, ate NO animal products, walked in the fresh rocky mountiain air miles each day, never took an antacid, an aspirin or anything, went through purely natural labor and delivery, never vaccinated and totally breast fed....and my sweet guy is one of the more severe cases of autism in here!

I think it is the 'luck of the draw'

I guess I can't blame "The Body Shop" lotions that their mother rubbed all over herself and all over them every day, then.  Like I said, it's yet another causation article, but the overall theme - that it might not be so simple as one single ingrediant, but don't discount current causation theories and that, regardless, don't lose sight of the child, are something that you don't often find in the same article.  I have no idea about the substances she's talking about - just thought her perspective was a little different. fred39269.4330902778You can make yourself crazy for sure.  There is so much out there.

The only thing I know for sure is there are more questions than answers.
