Actually Greenspan goes into that more in another book, The Special Needs Child, than in Engaging Autism.   And even then, not much.

He does talk about incorporating sensory diet, too.  He seems to really believe in addressing SID more than the other theorists.

My guess would be to expect an increase in MEASURABLE IQ ...

So- does anyone know of anyone personally who has a child that has increased their cognitive abilities and IQ with floortime? ( I know it is designed to - I have never heard any parent promote that it had such an impact, in the way that ABA does)  Just looking for feedback from real parent experiences.

I would be interested too.

It is (large-scale implementation-wise, anyhow) fairly new.  Our local paper (in the midwest) recently had an article touting it as "coming to town," like it is a big deal.  I am in KC, which is a pretty large metro area with a LARGE academic medical community!

What she said

This second book the Child with Special Needs is FANTASTIC - I thought it was even better than Engaging Autism and he does talk little more about Regulatory disorders - he talks a little bit about Austism being in its core an inability to relate - one of the examples he gives is of a child who is very affectionate with his mother and actually has regulatory disorder - and talks about the bradening of the ASD critiera

I am not feeding any denial and I have come to a place where I dont personally worry about the label - but more about what ROhan needs to be happy

Thanks for fixing the title, Kajoli -- our CATALOGUE was not working!

Also would add, Greenspan says a full assessment should evaluate a child's POOREST functioning (ie classroom or clinician situation) and their HIGHEST, ie, playing in quiet, relaxed setting with beloved parent).  That sounds so rational -- and I have not read that suggestion, anywhere else!
