You may have heard of  the "Athletes Against Autism" foundation. Lately, I've been giving some thought to starting a group called "Athletes With Autism" to honor accomplished athletes on the spectrum and to provide a source of encouragement and inspiration for those who would follow in their footsteps and reap the many benefits.

What do ya think? Any suggestions on how I might start something like this?

Thank you for your comments!   To inspire parents, teachers, and other children with autism is what one of my goals are.  I have not heard of Athletes against autism but I think that if you started up something like "Athletes with Autism" I would be interested in getting involved.  I'm trying to show that these kids can do it.  By producing the first person in history (by accident) with autism to qualify for the Karate Nationals in the non-handicap division, I figured out how to do it.  I really wanted this year to be 5 children with autism in the Karate Nationals.  Instead I have only one extra one this year.  The only reason why I don't have any other children with autism in the Nationals is simply numbers.  You have to have a child that is interested in competeing and is able to compete.  Most parents that have children with autism don't have the money or funds to do so because their own therapy is so expensive.  This is why we have car washes, t-shirt sales and accept donations.  This way there is not excuse why they can't go.   I also want to help other martial arts schools teach the children with autism but I would need to physically be there to teach them how to do it.   Therefore, a martial arts school must be willing to pay me to do so.   I can't do it for free plus I'm running 7 places at once right now.  I encourage you to start something and the best place I can think of to start would be in your hometown and talk to the economic development business center.  You might be able to get a grant but be ready to jump through some hoops!   Thanks again for you time and your comments
