I received an email today from the Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Association notifying me that included in the proposed budget of 6/26 was language that would require insurance coverage for ASD as long as the treatment was provided by a psychiatrist; psychologist; social worker certified to practice psychotherapy; SLP; paraprofessional working under any of the previous mentioned or a professional working under the supervision of a certified mental health clinic. SLPs were not included in the original proposal. THIS IS NOT LAW YET . Contact for legislators is http://waml.legis.state.wi.us/ Hopefully this information will be helpful for the WI parents out there. Thanks for the update. I didn't know there was a new budget proposal. I'll be contacting my representatives again asking for their support.
Anyone in WI, please contact your representatives and State Senators about this Bill. It is now called Bill 178, and I believe it is seperate from the Budget now. The WI Autism society and agencies like WEAP are very involved, if you want more information on it.
