The biting tells me he may need some oral-motor stuff put into his sensory
diet. There are many things that can help. You can work the jaw and inner
ear muscles(MANY receptors there) by making thick smoothies or shakes
and having him suck them through sippy cups with straws. Chewy or
crunchy snacks. There are many oral toys and techiniques available, from
whistles, to chewy necklaces, so ask you OT. Good Luck! The wandering
around the room is a diiferent issue, and very common.a stim?
My ds (2 PDD-NOS)
loves to walk around our living room leaning on the furniture and
bitting our couch pillows. I know he is looking for input and we
are beginning to try different vests for him with his OT.
Any suggestions on what I could add to his sensory diet to help him with this?
We do brushing,
compressions and rolling in his bean bag chair every two hours and we
bounce on the ball but not as often..
Thanks in advance for your ideas.
