Hi Hamnpook,
Here is a Krigsman discussion you might be interested in reading:

We did the GFCF diet and nystatin for Sarah's gut issues for a year~never did a colonoscopy Hi Patty. My grandson is a patient of Dr. Krigsman. My daughter takes him to the Long Island office. Nate has had silent reflux from the age of 5 weeks and has had a problem with constipation forever. He is 28 months old now. Dr. Krigsman did an endoscopy and a colonoscopy and found ulcers in his esophagus and his colon. He put him on Pentasa. His DAN doc wanted him to take some anti-yeast meds but my daughter did not believe he really had a yeast problem and Dr. Krigsman believes if you heal the stomach you will get rid of the yeast anyway.
Pentasa affects a substance in the body that causes inflammation, tissue damage, and diarrhea. Since Nate started that drug, it must be about 7 months now, and since my daughter put him on a GFCF diet, he is a new child. No more reflux, no more stomach pain and no more constipation. You can just imagine how we feel about Dr. Krigsman.
Good luck with your little boy Patty. It really hurts to watch when they are hurting so much. I hope he gets better as fast as Nate did.
In the recent issue of "Spectrum" magazine, there was an article about a gastroenterologist who specializes in autistic children. His name is Dr. Arthur Krigsman. It was said in the article that he had an office here on Long Island, but he also works out of Texas!
My son has had constant diarrhea (with bouts of constipation!) for at least a year now. I was thinking about taking him to a gastroenterologist, and then I read the article. (What timing!) I'm concerned about the testing, as I know it will be some kind of hell to have him x-rayed - but my son is going to start kindergarten in the fall, and he needs help! I hope to be contacted by their office next week.
Has anyone else seen a gastroenterologist, and if so what kinds of tests were done and what was done to correct the problem?
Thanks so much,
Patty
