Steroid Wrestler and Fragile X Son | Autism PDD

This is such a sad story...I agree LeAnne we can't ignore this...if we know anyone we need to make sure we help...we are all under so much stress from our daily lives, but taking those few minutes a day to let someone know we care and we will help in anyway possible can make such a difference...I know personally how much just getting a chance to talk about things can make me feel so much better, even if the problems remain.

This family too is in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry - I didn't see the other thread on this.

How horrible was THIS news about the father, who, depressed over his 7 year old son's fragile x, came home and murdered his wife.  Then after a day of I guess considering his options, then choked his boy to death and finally killed himself.

I know the news talks about how the steroids this professional wrestler was on probably led to overly aggressive tendencies.  But its telltale, i think, that the guy had just left the doctor's office where he had discussed his depression, the problems they were having getting the right school setting in their new neighborhood, and his son's condition, when apparently he went directly home and killed his wife.

I have no idea whether his son had just mental retardation or also had autism associated with his fragile x, but please. If you have any friends who are horribly depressed over their child's condition, don't ignore them!  In a million years, you'd never think a parent is going to harm his family, but I know a couple from work where it DID happen.  Kids were killed, wife survived, and dear hubby is in jail forever.

Isn't it ironic that they just came out with promising news at MIT about reversing the effects of Fragile x in mice?  I carry that little family in my prayers, gone though they are.

Whoa.  I had not heard his son had fragile X.

Imagine -- this was a  celeb, someone who had the resources and connections to find the best ways of helping ... OMG how SAD.

Found this release from national fragile-X foundation,  in searching the news:

foxl39261.316400463He also had dwarfism.. I can't imagine the stress that would put the whole family under.. Especially if you're always having to leave them daily for the type of career he was in..
