Just an out there question- If it is made out of spandex why couldn't you take a peice of spandex swim suit material and make a tube out of that? Tjs OT suggestrd it to me. He said that they use star shaped ones at the hospital he works at. The fabric can be see thru from the inside but looks like regular fabric fom out side. I know that  swim suit fabric makes wonderful swings for inside the house.

Kathy,

That is a great idea about the swinging!!  I have to physically pick my son up and swing him as of right now.  Still waiting to see if I am going to get funds to get that sensory swing that hangs from the ceiling.  Using fabric to hammock him is a great idea!!  Thanks.  Also...looking at that thing online..it doesn't look hard to make really.  Oh....and I like to look at catalogs to get ideas about how to make or use things I have in my home.  Adam has a BIG ball that I got from walmart for a couple of dollars that has spiderman on it.  I use that as a theraputic sensory ball.  I roll him on it and hold his hands and bounce him etc.  He loves it!  And it was  a lot cheaper than the theraputic balls in the catalogs.  This christmas I'm gonna look for one of those bouncing balls with the handle for him since he loves to bounce so much.

I was talking with my ds teacher today and she had metioned that one of his classmates had brought in a Body Sock.I guess it is made of a spandex material and the child can get inside of it and push out on it. I guess they are used for OT purposes. She said that Nick and his friends had alot of fun with this so they didn't even realize they were doing any therapy. If any of you have used these or know where I could purchase one I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

i get a catalog in the mail every once in a while called Abilitations. it has all sorts of special needs equipment. i paged through it and found what you are looking for - Body Sox. they come in all different sizes and colors, and prices range from 39.99 to 62.99.

it looks really neat. i may have to order one for my daughter.

You peeked my interest here and I had to look online. LOL  I found this catalog website and here is the link directly to the body sock.  You can also request a catlog from this site too.
