I need some help, once again. My 4 yr old graduated from headstart last saturday and ever since he doesn't want to go to school. He has cried everyday that I left him at school. I have also noticed a lot more austic symptoms this past week. I was wondering if he was regressing. He has been seen in the corner at home twice this week. This is totally different than he has ever been. He is not talking in sentences at home this week, it is one word repeated over and over. Some days he does this and other days he doesn't. I don't understand all of this and I need some advice. Please help.
It could be him trying to deal with the change in his routine, my sons sensory issues get worse when he is stressed, change in routine is very stressfull for some ASD kidos. I don't think its regression if it is not happening everyday. Hang in there and hopefully he will get into new routine soon. My son did not mess in his pants during the school year, but has been for 2 weeks now, ever since school ended.Sensory issues are huge in asd kids especially really young..Is there any way to get him in smaller preschool setting without that many kids? Or see if maybe he can wear headphones or earplugs during certain loud times...unexpected events are very stressful too..if the teacher could give you their schedule of day ahead of time so you can make a chart at home and at school would help along with social stories..sometimes if the teacher isnt totally ruley she may let you take pictures of him with the other kids and of her..mine would..shh!
This helped a great deal! I made a big poster covered in acyrlic frame(cheap) and put in her eyesight level in hall so she had to see it everyday..and I would have her name all the kids..ask her questions about them and school, teacher..ect..:) Good Luck!
