This was the front page of our local paper today. Isnt it strange that this Proffesor teaches at our states 'flag ship' university, the very same one that shut down it's (one of two in the entire state) Infant and Toddler Evaluation Center. Last year they shut it down and if a child needs to be evaluated for ASD or other DD's, they can go to the other University (looooooooooooooong wait and even longer commute, since it is located in the North Western part of Ky-Louisville) or, the family can (most insurance will not cross the state line), go to the University of Cincinnati. The only company that specialized in ASD behaviors, folded last year, because Medicaid refused to pay for their services. So if your child has a behavior problem, you must private pay (IF and that IF is a BIG IF, you can find someone who has an opening) or do with out.
May GOD help us all. Even if your child does not have a behavior problem, the stats say it is about 60% likely, that they will have one in their lifetime. But our society seems to want to bury their heads in the sand and let a little problem go, until it becomes a huge problem.
Boyd Haley, a University of Kentucky chemist, addressed the crowd Wednesday at a rally on the steps of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Haley has sought to ban thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative that was in most children's vaccinations from the mid-1980s until about four years ago. He said he believes the preservative severely affected the brains of some children, causing them to become autistic.
