OFF TO CAMP | Autism PDD

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes I need a break from my kids so bad and the moment they leave for Nana's house I miss them so bad and want them to come back. Then I just have to remember how much they love their grandparents and how much fun they have at their house. Your ds will probably have a great deal of fun at camp and get to experience new things which is so wonderful when you are a kid. I loved going to camp as a kid!!   But now I am too scared to let my own kids go!!   I am never sure anyone else can handle him for that long!    I wish I could be as brave as you because I know it is such a neat part of growing up and can be a source of great lifelong memories and friendships!    The week will go by quickly!  I hope all goes well!!     bonnie

I think that is wonderful that he gets to get out there and go to a structured camp and have a great time and that you get the bonus of a break at the same time!!  I know that you miss him though...you wouldn't be a good mom if you didn't miss him or worry.  I hope that when adam is old enough that there will be something for him to partake in like this.

Well it's been a day and a half lol i'm keeping track, Matthew my son is at camp having fun and i'm missing him. When we pulled in he knew where he was he went right to the room and then right to the playground like he was there yesterday (it's been a yr.) He is so amazing!!! are kids are unbelievable !!!

He's playing basketball, going on the canoe, archery bomb fires ect...

I haven't done anything yet hopefully tomorrow me and my other two boys will go to the park weather pending(florida) I know Matthew is in good hands it's one on one and it's his third yr. going. But i'm still a mom !!!

So for all you other mom's you should let them go to camp to grow, to experience it and for a break!!! It's tuff but when i pick him up will both be ready to tackle the school year.

Hey Kris hows it going so far? I can understand your fears and worries. I would be terrified too. Was he excited to go? Thats always a good sign. Im sure they have many trained people there to help him, but I know no one knows him as well as mom.

Sorry you don't get more of a break for the week but maybe your other 2 will help keep you from so much worry.

Hang in there, we're here if you need us..... remember theres the hang out room now too!

well it's here camp my 8 yr. old goes to camp for a week it's his third yr. and i still get emotional about it what if ?? Did i pack everything ?? What if he misses me and can't tell anyone (he's non verbal) what if he wonders off ????

Well this year he's two other brothers don't have school the week he's gone so no real break my 3 yr. old is autistic too. What am i to do ? I'll miss matthew for a couple days (the whole week) but the first two days will be hell i'll be wondering what he's doing is he eating ect...
