Dog Food-Ol Roy | Autism PDD

Ole Roy very inexpensive....I do work with greyhounds...I foster them till they find a home (and have 4 of my own).  One day I got a call from someone that wanted to donate food for the greyhounds..and she showed up with 2- 40lb bags of ol roy.  I politely thanked her and asked my dh to put them in my van so I could get the food to the right place.

The right place was back at Walmart....where I took it and exchanged it for a brand that was a little better for them (Purina One).  I even took back the ol roy treats....and donated what was left.

There was no way that I would ever feed my dogs ol roy.

That being said....I have been feeding mine Purina Pro Plan beef and rice and Purina one...and those dog foods aren't really bad....but right now I'm actually in the process of switching them all to Canidae lamb and rice...due to two of my dogs sensitivities.  One has allergies and the other has colitis.  I chose Canidae after going to this website  http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com and seeing how they rate side by side with their competitors.

So far they are all doing well in this transition period too...and I know that they are getting good food on top of that.
I know Ol,Roy is inexpensive but it is gross food. When we got our puppy at 6 weeks old the breeder had been giving the pups OlRoy and the pups stomach was so bloated that it was hanging almost to the ground!! When we took it to the VETERINARIAN, HE SAID NEVER FEED ANY DOG OL ROY!!! We had not been feeding Ol Roy just because of our pups belly problems and I thought when I saw this thread I would pass along this advice. There are plenty of food brands that aren't expensive that our vet did recommend such as Purina, Blue Seal (found at grain stores and it is what we use, Ultra 27-high in protein)......

I don't feed my dogs ol roy...but for those that do...please read..and if you know of other groups that you frequent...please copy and paste and cross post this
