Why is education important in parenting healthy children?

Thanks for the post.  It is naive and foolish to believe that the chemicals, man-made ingredients, refined flour and sugar, and the cocktail of biologically unstable additives we consume can sustain health and have nothing to do with the woes of society.  For those who haven't read it, Adelle Davis' book, Let's Eat Right to Be Fit delves into this issue very deeply.  It opened my eyes to the effects of malnutrition on our world.  You can weigh 300 pounds and be suffering from malnitrition if you aren't consuming the vitamins, minerals, and other necessary nutrients your body needs to function.  Eating was not meant to be a source of pleasure and indulgence, but a method by which we fuel our bodies and MINDS by ingesting the proper nutrients.

If I'm remembering correctly, there is a school for kids with behavioral issues in the Green Bay area of Wisconsin that changed the menu in the cafeteria to all healthy foods.  There were no vending machines, no soda, no junk food.  They only served healthy, nutritious food.  There was a significant difference in the students.  I saw this a few years back on a national program and unfortunately I can't remember all of the specifics.

I also know that the Naked Chef, Jamie Oliver, has been working to get schools in England to change their lunch menues.  I hope he comes to this country with his campaign.  IMO - Changes are needed in school cafeterias across our country.  To me, it just seems like common sense.
