Tantrum days and sleepless nights | Autism PDD

Well the fevers stop and now veroniqua wants nothing to do with anyone! She is constantly throwing toys screaming and yelling and wants absolutly no one to touch her! She only sleeps 4 hrs a night! Been a crazy last 2 days... she plays alone and watches TV, but if you go near her she is absolutly out of this world! she went from over affectionate to  anti social in days! she is feeling alot better but i guess she just got enough sleep those cpl days she wasnt feeling good!  I am ready to scream! The tantrum are the worst ever! And of course my other half is on his way to Philly. PA and wont be back until tomorrow! My dad gets surgery tomorrow and i will have my niece and little sister tonight!  So it is going to be a fun night!

I also wantr to say thanks to everyone on the sight you have been very helpful to me and i am learning alot!!

You may want to consider seeing a behavioral specialist (or not), if you are not alreavdy . Each time we went to the center for therapy or to the school, he learned more and more how to act out and of course, he has severe SPD and his former OT, just emailed me again last week, telling me to restart his brushing program and to gently remind everyone that Pooh has serious SPD and that his 'fight or flight' sense is very strong and powerful. He can not be forced to participate, he must be made to want to...Our new therapist seems to have never heard of such a concept and is becooming more and more the very person who is causing some of DS's negative behaviors/ example, last week he found a magazine, then found his beloved disney DVD's in an ad, he wanted to share it with her, she took it from him, put it aside and said 'we are not doing that now'. I was and still am, shocked. Even I would know better, why did she not use his sharing that with her and his obvious overwhelming intrest in it, to start him in looking at the PEC's she wanted him to look at? Sigh, maybe it is just me........ My DS's behaviors started when he turned 3 and we lost our in home EI services. They have slowly and steadily evolved and now he receives medication and we see a Psychologist. I am still not satisfied with the lack of help I am getting with a behavior mod program. I am told over and over that the only company that did that in this state, went out of bussiness because Medicaid refused to pay for the services. sigh...........

((HUGS)) if you want em and I am glad to hear that DD is feeling better with her sinus problems.

I know my son has had an oposite affect when it comes to most meds. He is 13 and the other son is almost 15 and both have forms of Autism. Does your child usually sleep only 4-5 hrs a night? I am asking because mine always have. I have learned to sleep with one eye open. I use the extra time to go back to school on line or clean house. It is so frustrating when they won't let you confort them. Do you recieve PSR(psycosocial rehab) or In home support care? If you can get tose services it really helps to be able to catch a nap and start fresh. Angie, Im wondering if it could be a side effect of the medications she may be on for the congestion and sinus problems... sometimes meds work the opposite on our kids... it could be causing her to be angry / aggressive.  Check with the pharmacist or Dr and ask if its a possibility. Hopefully she calms down soon. The fever was caused by congestion and sinuses, Well as this is the first year since we got the dianosis i think we notice the tantrums more! There has been no fever all week. She is just constant crying screaming and throwing fits! Its almost like she wants it all and nothing at all at the same time! Hi, you're up early again. I hope your dd settles soon.

Thanks! It is nice to know that im not the only one who is going through this! I love this sight! Its been great! Thanks Hugs are aklways nice! and welcome!

I am SO sorry you are going through this! What caused the fever? Has she just been this bad since the fever, or is it common for her to have periods like this during the year? (I know ds has off weeks/days and on weeks/days)

Amber

Sorry to hear things are a bit crazy for ya right now.  I hope it all settles down soon.  Part of me can't wait for school to start, and the other part wishes it never would.  We are still having a few issues that I feel were not properly addressed at the end of the year ARD.  So, hopefully we can get it all together.

I am not to sure about the med thing i know she was on the same med before and had no problems! She normally sleeps 8-10 hours a night! She is doing alot better today! Her grandma got her a new bed and she is all excited about it! She is trying to help to put it together! I hope that it helps some! We dont recieve any in home services, I am not sure there are any in this area! They wont even do in home speach because she is under 5! her grandma is taking her tomorrow night again so ill catch a break when i get done at SS, court and the licence bur!
