I am new to this service. I have a four year son diagnosed with Autism (mild/mod) who is currently in a full time preschool program (integrated with typical peers) in NH. He has made some gains but still struggles with communication/social pragmatics. We have had our share of struggles with the school district and have made several attempts to obtain ABA 1:1 services and more Speech Therapy. Aside from full day program or son formally receives one hour ST per week, one hour OT per week as well as "loosely based ABA" and is monitored by a behavioral specialist. Due to family reasons we are considering a move to the Chicago land region (Naperville,Libertyville and surrounding Chicago suburbs). Does anyone have any info regarding programs for children with ASD in these regions and recommendations. We are interested in finding out about full time inclusion based programs, programs with a behavioral specialists/ASD coordinator on site, a program offering summer instruction, year round transportation. In addition, do the programs include ABA 1:1, Floortime or other type of ASD model? Would our current NH programming differ in Illinois?
Moving is always a tough decision and we want what is best for our son.
