Tammy, what's the difference between stess headaches and migraine, they sound the same with the neck pain and all. How did they determine it was stress headaches and not migraines for you? Do you also get the sensitivity to light and noise? What about vision problems, like white haze, blind spots, blurriness, etc. ??Thanks!
Lesley, thanks for the info and support! I think you're right about taking it easy. It is a long road ahead. And yes, it does seem that sleep and a quiet, dark room are the only help!
See the symptoms are very similar. But it is also in my medical file about having two kids on the spectrum. And I don't have all of the symptoms associated with migraines, just some of them. But I do have sensitivity to lights. The doctor just thought they were more stress related because of the tension in the shoulders too.

Yeah, Riley and Josh both have the photo- and phonophobia also....along with severe pain that brings them to tears and sometimes vomiting for Josh....Riley vomits for about 90 hours...but can also have just the migraine without a CVS episode.
Here's a site that lists both types w/symptoms...

I just started getting migraines for the first time in my life last week. I've had three since Thursday, complete with vision disturbances, dizziness, light sensitivity, noise sensitivity (my husband drying himself off with a towel after the shower was hurting my ears!) a little nausea and the worst headache and stiff neck and jaw pain. Does anyone else have migraines.
I do have epilepsy and am on anticovulsants and I do know that migraines and epilepsy are closely correlated (epileptics have a much higher rate of migraines than the general population). I get what are called "auras" with both, sorta like warning signs. I can definitely tell they're related. I'm seeing my neurologist about it Monday.
But I was just wondering if any of you get them. They are so debilitating, I can't believe it. Also wondering if it's being brought on by the chronic stress of my dd being recently dxed and adjusting to this whole new world of pdd. It just seems like it because of the timing. I've never had one before. The day of my first, I thought I had menigitis, my head hurt so bad and my neck was so stiff. I just woke up with it. I made my husband come home from work to take me to urgent care (turns out they were closed!!!!!). Just wondering what you all knew about it.........
It could very well be stress related!!! Especially if you just started them - first take a breath!!! :)
My ds (DSI, possible Autistic) gets migraines, along with a severe disorder called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome that is also migraine related (could also be mitochondrial related). He was getting them daily and is now on medication for them (Periactin). His older brother also gets them..recently discovered...but not the CVS part.
Chocolate, dairy and MSG can also trigger migraines along with stress. (although none of these are triggers for my kids). They are often hereditary (maternal?)...so if they exist in your family that could be the case. Sleep is the best medicine, quiet, dark room, cold cloth on your forehead, hot cloth on the back of your neck.
You are very stressed right now though....so first I'd suggest taking a break for yourself!! Treat yourself to it, the road will still be long ahead of you, but if you're in better health...it'll be easier travelling!!
I do hope they go away tho sallys....they truly are horrible...for anyone, young or old.
Take care of yourself!! ~Lesley
They could just be stress headaches. They do come with the stiff neck, the very bad headache ( I have had one for three plus days and no pain pill worked on them) . Unfortunately if they are stress headaches no one drug tends to work on them. They did put me on amitrypteline along with a heavy pain killer for the really bad headaches. Also they had me go thru physical therapy for the neck issues.
