my son brady is 5 1/2 yrs. old dx with pdd-nos, adhd, odd with sensory and lang. impairments. he's taking focalin 10mg 1x a day and .5mg risperdol in am and 1 mg in pm. He's improved dramatically on all areas especially lang. A yr. ago I couldn't take him hardly anywhere , we were basically hermits. I felt hostage in my home because of his behavior with meltdowns. But everything improved and lessened. On the other hand he still has his days and his aggression has somewhat worsened these past couple of months when a meltdown does occur. One thing i've noticed that is ifing me about the meds is he likes to what i call revenge on others. For instance after cooling down from a meltdown he'll raise back his hand or objects and stare at you in your eyes like he's going to really hurt you. But never does if you tell him the consequences. Then he'll put it down and say he's sorry and give you a kiss and tells you he loves you. He's like two totally diff. people in minutes.
Also when he's concentrating or sitting still he'll jerk his head to the right side really fast off and on. I ask him why is he doing that and he'll respond "why not" or "don't know" that saddens me!
I just don't know what to do, is this something to be expected the older he gets or is something really going wrong?? I do think he might need maybe a sm. dose of his focalin in pm because its the late afternoon/evenings when he has alot of his behavior problems. He rarely takes naps too so i wonder if this behavior because he's tired??
