I have a beautiful 8 year old daughter with aspergers and anxiety disorder. We start to notice things were not quite right with Grace at age 9 mon. She had a very large head that was growing too fast. She like to sit alone in her infant seat and just stare. As she got older she would have meltdowns in walmart because of the fluorescent lights. She hate loud sounds and has many other sensory issues. At first I home school her but this seemed to make anxiety of public places worse. This last year she attend public 2nd grade. She cried every day I dropped her off. But she did do well during the day. Academically she is on track. Her main issue is her inability to write sentence. She still requires speech therapy but doesn't receive any other help. I don't know any other asperger kids. I would love to home school her but most of her problems are social and I want her to do well as an adult. Do any of you know where I can find a good support? I am looking for a message board or e-mail group or something. I just want someone to share idea with and to sympathize with during our struggles.
Thanks
Isabel
Did you have her hearing fully evaluated. I know some people have a hearing condition where they can actually hear humming that flourescent lights and believe it or not, transformers put off. They can hear I think it is low tones that other people can't and it can interfer with their daily life.

Isabel,
Hi and welcome to the board!! I have a 3 year old boy with PDD-NOS. There are other parents here that have children with aspergers so you've found the right place. Just thought I would tell you welcome. I'm sure that the other aspie parents will see your post and respond. Take care,
Karrie
Hi, Isabel!Welcome Isabel. Tammy is right I heard of a severely autistic adult that can hear the different tones of whales / dolphins,... can hear helicopters from miles away.... etc. So I agree with Tammy I would get thehearing checked.
My son is almost 10 and has a 10 year old "friend" with aspergers. There are several parents here who have aspies too. I hope you find this message board as enjoyable and supportive as many of us here do.
