my son is 3 yrs old and is leaving the Early intervention program. He start getting ABA only 6mths ago, but it seem to be the only things that work for him. he has little speech and his very hyper. the school that he is going to don't have ABA.(broolyn, ny) how can i get him to still have ABA at home or are they any schools in the Manhatttan or queens that carry it
I know some states will pay for ABA some wont, Some do only for a kid with an actual classic autism diagnosis and wont for a kid with PDD NOS or aspergers.... I don't know what the rules are there.
I would suggest calling his doctor and asking if he can write a script for your child to receive ABA in home, as well as ask for places to contact to find someone to provide the services.
If the doctor can't help start calling the local MR DD school, ask your childs school where he received it in Early Intervention, ask your county mental health for assistance in finding it but ask anyone and everyone you can think of!
ANother possibility is to call the UNLOCKING AUTISM NATIONAL CALL CENTER 866-366-3361 or clicking on their Parent 2 Parent Network and find someone in your area who can help you find the resources you are looking for.
Here are some ABA links..... I know a few people have "taught themselves" an ABA version and implement it themselves at home.
