Finding a good doctor | Autism PDD

Share

Hi Rachel, You could contact unlocking autism's Parent 2 Parent Network and click on Texas for a list of state reps who will help you find the resources you need for your area. Also they have a National Call Center, 866-366-3361 Only problem is in many cases its at least a several month wait to get an appointment with a neurologist as well.

Heres some other resources for Texas  as well as some State Specific Resources from Karjab30 (Karrie's) site.

I still have another month to go before my son can be seen for an evaluation at Our Children's House of Baylor, who apparently have a long waiting list (Does anyone have any experience with them?) Anyway, I don't want to just sit and wait anymore, so having read the 'Who Should Diagnose' thread and seeing everyone's suggestions for seeing a neurologist, I was wondering if there is a website or other place I can go to for a list of experienced doctors. I just moved here to the Dallas area of TX, and I was highly disappointed with the pediatrician I went to see first with my concerns. She referred me to an adult psychologist instead of a dev. one. I want to get this ball rolling and don't want to waste any more time with doctors who are uninformed. I've scrolled through the list of neurologists from our insurance co. but of course I know nothing about them.

I'm so grateful to have found this board. I really appreciate all the info.

Rachel
