Unlocking Autism Mail craziness | Autism PDD

Share

Hey Everyone...

Just came to say hi and sorry i h haven't been here much... life is CRAZINESS *laughs* Last week Zachary had THREE evaluations back to back... A school one, one for the waiver He needs to get therapy in home and then an interview with SSI.  SSI told us that Zach hasn't been determined disabled YET, but that they are so sure he will they are going to start payments, so we'll get a check next month.  Basically i've determined they are doing this to save thier own asses cause then they won't have to give us back pay really... only 2 months.  We did ask what would happen if say He gets 6 months of payments and they then say He's not eligible will we have to pay it back and the guy assured us we wouldn't.

On another note *laughs*... is anyone else on the unlocking autism mail list???  Cause holy uncontrolable mail... i hope they get it sorted soon.

Hey Kellie,

Yeah, i guess maybe that is the upside to me not being able to breastfeed??? I don't have to worry to much about what i'm eating...LOL just trying to look at the positive.  The colic isn't all that bad, and i went through it with Zach, so I was prepared ... She just gets fussy at around 7-8pm... it lasts about 2 hours and then she is pretty good.... but some nights, my husband has to hold, rock, sway, bounce and whatever all night with her.... *smiles* He has much more patience than me.... that is why He takes the night shift.... although that will end soon when He goes back to work.   I'm really glad to hear that Andrew is doing well.  How is Luke doing with it all???

You should fill out the SSI for Luke... We are getting almost 500 bucks a month plus Zach will be on a different MA program, meaning He'll get more services and things paid for by insurance.... My husband and I hoping that with this extra income we'll be able to buy a house.  This money also makes up for me not working... which means I won't have to go back like we thought i was going to have to.

Hey Sarah!!!!!!

I'm glad things are going well, if it wasn't crazy, you wouldn't know what to do with yourself LOL I'm super happy things went well with ssi, i'd just make sure the pay back thing is in writing. but I'm sure everything will be fine, it's my whole, don't trust the govt thing. LOL  How did Zach do during the evals?  How is everything going on the home front? I hope everything is going well, i saw your pics on the chatroom, your family is lovely!!  Take care, I look forward to chatting with you soon! - Eileen

Yes I agree get that in writing.  You can never, ever trust the government.  715

Sarah,

Good to hear from you!

How is the new one doing? Anything close to sleeping through the night yet?

Nelle

Sarah DONT send to the list!!!! Everyone that sends to the list address IS feeding the whole system! I wouldnt be surprised if whoever hacked into the system and started the virus is who started the "Lets make it fun and send pictures of our families" too. As long as people send the remove me emails click reply and / or send pics or other messages into the UA Mail list address these 150+ emails a day will NEVER go away!

I dont know if you saw the messages from Shelley so I will post them here.

Our mail boxes here are full as well.  This is AWFUL and I am so unbelievably mad.

We have a whole list of UA Alerts that are planned to go out starting today and obviously CANNOT get those out now with all this going on.  They are to build up activity across the country to coincide with the rally that will be happening next week for parents in particular who will not be able to travel to DC.

According to our web hosting company someone with an IP address that does not correspond with either of the two people that help us with the website somehow got into the listserve that we had to set up because of the whole stupid AOL thing back in June.  As a result, they have developed what is supposedly called a SPOOF email with a virus attached to it.

All of us have scanned all of our computers and none of us have this virus.  Not a one of us.

Please help us tell people that they just need to delete the emails and we will do our best to get our the alerts through NANCALE@aol.com
again and hopefully AOL won't cut us off this time.

I guess this is what is to be expected when you mess with the big dogs.  I hate to be a total conspiracy theorist but UA has been sending bulk emails since 1999 with absolutely NO problem until this campaign came out.  Weird isn't it?

ACK...I wonder if there is a vaccine in the works to stop these kind of viruses.

Thank you for your patience and if you can just help us tell people to press delete I would appreciate it.

Shelley

AND (although I think someone else may have added the top portion)

STOP REPLYING TO THE UAMAIL LIST SERVE.
EVERYTIME SOMEONE REPLIES - 50 MORE MESSAGES GET GENERATED.
STOP!
EVEN THE LITTLE HELPFUL MESSAGES
STOP!!!!!

As you probably are more than aware, one of email account addresses of Unlocking Autism was "spoofed."  Someone sent out an email saying it was from Unlocking Autism, which it was not.

The original email contained a virus, known as the WORM_MYTOB.FQ (*)virus, that is spread everytime anyone hits reply or forward to any mail with UAMail in the subject line or sends mail to uamail@list.unlockingautism.org or uamail-owner@unlockingautism.org.

Unlocking Autism closed down every single email account and address in our listserv with unlockingautism.org in it on the morning of July 15, as soon as we realized how it was spreading.

The only way to stop this virus is for everyone to just stop replying to it.

If you reply to it, it will add people from YOUR address book as well.

Please do not tell people to email UAMail-owner@list.unlockingautism.org or any other email address.    And do not send any mail to UAMail@list.unlockingautism.org or UAMail-owner@... as it will only spread the virus further.   Please do not ask to be removed as there is no list to remove you from and when you reply that you would like to be removed, you simply keep the virus going on and on.

We are taking care of everything we can, but only the recipients can stop the virus by not feeding it with replies.

Please protect yourself from any virus attacks by keeping your anti-virus software updated with WEEKLY updates.

You can also set all posts with UAMail in the subject line to autodelete in your email  easily then you don't have to see them or even hit delete.

Again, we are doing all we can but we need your help to stop this.  We are so sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully this will all be over soon and we can all get back to business.  We will have some significant Action Alerts coming out for next week to support the efforts of the Power of Truth Rally in Washington, DC on Wednesday.

Thank you all very much for your cooperation and your understanding.

PS.  If you do need information on the virus you can visit this site: http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VN ame=WORM_MYTOB.FQ

Please cut and paste that....we are trying not to send anything that includes a hyperlink for obvious reasons. :)

Sounds like a hacker got into the system.  Just the luck of the draw.  It brought down over half of ezboard and they have over 9,000 message boards.  With some of the individual accounts it took away over half of the individual's post counts.  Funny didn't affect mine on there tho.

Tammy

Ohh no i didn't see that one, thanks Michelle... i've just been trying to delete now... i actually wanna try and set it up so any  mail from the UA goes to a seperate folder because i don't want off the list, but dayum the mail is getting rediculous.  That way i can just sift through the headlines, delete what needs to be deleted and keep anything from Shelley or Nancy.  Not sure how to do this yet... but i'll figure it out *laughs*

Hey Sarah heres a message I received saying how to go about setting it up to go to a seperate folder... Hope it helps.

FIRST: Add the uamail@list.unlockingautism.org to you address book by Right Clicking on it here in the message and click on the option of add sender to address book.

SECOND: Go to TOOLS, then down to MESSAGE RULES. Click on this.
When the window for it opens click on the ADD button to set up the new message rule.

THIRD: A new small window will open. There will be 4 boxes total in two rows. Top LEFT box....highlight and click on TO LINE CONTAINS  then go to the RIGHT upper box and click on the small button next to the box (mine has a few dots in it) That will open a list of ALL your email addys in your address book. Find the uamail@list.unlockingautism.org and click on then then click on OK. That will take you back to the small window

FOURTH: Bottom TWO boxes as follows  LEFT one highlight & click on MOVE TO and then for the RIGHT box (it will more then likely be shaded in color or gray) click on the button to the right of it. This will open up a small window with all your FOLDERS for your email. EITHER create a new folder just to hold this mail or click on a folder you already have that you want it to go to. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE ON THIS MAILING LIST THEN JUST HIGHLIGHT THE DELETED ITEMS FOLDER. What ever folder you choose is where all future emails will go into directly.  Then click ok and this will take back to the small window with the four boxes that will now be filled in.

FIFTH: Now click the ok button in that window. That window will now close and you will be back to the first window with all your message rules. Click the ok button once again and you will exit back to email.

This looks like allot of work but I do this for all my email groups to put them in file folders along with seperating other email accounts. (like DD & DH) It really is very easy and quick to do....

JUST PLEASE DON'T REPLY TO THOSE EMAILS with REMOVE...it will not work
Hey Sarah! Yes the Unlockign Autism Mail is a mess right now.... funny the virus happened when all this stuff was going on.... coincidence???

Ok to any other parent or a parent of a NT child... Zach would of done HORRIBLE at his evals... especially the one for school, layed on the floor for the first hour and half of the 2 hours we were there and did nothing but cry, whine and roll around.  Normally i wouldn't put up with that, but it's not like i could of just gotten up and left.... i mean i suppose i could of, but you know what i mean.  The waiver one and the SSI one weren't as bad, just a lil' hyper really.  The school did EXACTLY what Zach's psychologist said they would, talk us into sending Him.... but my wonderful Hubby Chris nipped that right in the butt.  He knows that i tend be wishy washy and specially now with Zach and treatment wise.  Found out that once Zach gets on SSI and on medicaid He can get private ST and OT, social worker informed me of that and once the waiver goes through He'll get ABA therapy... i'm going with a company that uses many approaches though, not just ABA.... they do floortime, TEACHH and a few others that i can't remember the names of off the top of my head right now.  So with the news of that.... School will wait another year.... when hopefully through his therapies He will have better coping skills to deal with the social activity there.  Zach really has started to hate social settings... this is new.  They never used to bother him all that much untill recently.  Now lately, people can't even really come visit us too much because He FREAKS out badly.... hides, starts head banging and body slamming himself.

Jaydin is doing alright.... she has colic *smiles big*  She also was tested... blood test, sucked, but i'm glad i did it... because.... she has Milk protien allergy AND lactose intollerance.  *sighs* and i can't breastfeed, so she's just on isomil and so far it seems to be alright....I know that people might think i'm nuts, but i swear the devil is trying to kill me.... slowly, with sleep deprivation and mal nutrition.  *laughs*  sorry i'm just tired and i miss my husband.  Thanks for asking about us though..... i miss you guys and  chatting.

Michelle,... Yeah no kidding... I know people are saying ohh it's just some hacker bla bla bla... but that is WAYYYY too convienent with the rally coming up so soon.  I tried to join in the send out some picture thing (i know i know just feeding the whole mess, but figured just one email)  but my emails don't seem to be sending *shrugs*

Anyways... Miss you guys... How's everyone doing?

Sarah,

It appears that my new little guy has a milk allergy as well!!  I AM breastfeeding, so no more milk or cheese for me. :(  I totally hear ya on the sleep deprivation thing.  I'm sorry Jaydin has colic.  You must be going crazy (I know I did with Luke!).  Luckily, Andrew is fairly well behaved (though everytime I say that, he starts to fuss and we have an awful night) and sleeps for 3 hour stretches.

Congrats on the SSI thing!  I've been meaning to fill out the paperwork for that ...
