For the last 3 days Veroniqua has been acting really sick! She has had a fever of 103.2 off and on but as soon as i give her motrin its gone! The only thing she has done is Sleep and throw tantrums. She is constantly up my butt, her dads been here but as always he isnt mommy! She Cried for 30 mins while i cooked dinner for us and brads parents last night saying MOM. I felt so bad for not rushing over and picking her up. But other than the fever she doesnt have really any other symptoms??? Any one have any idea or suggestions? ive thought about the ER but they look at you like your crazy if you say she has a fever that is going up and down fast, sleeping, and crying! Sometime i just wish she could Say MOMMY I DONT FEEL GOOD!
Thanks,
Angie AKA Veroniquasmom
I don't have any suggestions on what might be bothering your DD, but that fever is cause to have her checked out. If she's still complaining tomorrow, take her to her regular doctor. The constant crying may mean she's in pain, and cannot tell you where she hurts.
If her temp goes up, or she develops any other symptoms, I'd take her to the emergency room, and let the doctors think you're crazy. At least you'd be doing something constructive, and getting medical attention if it is something major.
Good luck. Hope it isn't something serious.
Kim
I would call your doctor and ask his or her advice. Pediatrician's offices have someone on call on the weekends, and our ped's office has nurses on the weekends that you can talk to, and then they call the doc if there is a need, or tell you to go to the ER.
Is she eating and drinking okay?
Yes she is eating and drinking ok! I called the Drs office and the nurse on call suggested that it is caused from the heat and said that if it continues into tomorrow to call and make an appointment! She seems a little better today but that could change...... I thought the same thing yesterday morning!UH, I think symptoms such as those warrent an actual VISIT to the doctor, not just a phone call. It could just be one of the many viruses going around, but I would think you should visit an actual doctor rather than us. I'm not sure if we are qualified to answer medical questions such as these.Angie, Rachelle is correct in saying we arent qualified to handle medical questions like this. A fever indicated the body is trying to fight an infection, no tthat its hot outside.
I know my son would get ear infections constantly and I never knew until the fever and the dr visit. He never had drainage and never pulled or rubbed his ears. He would stop eating / drinking, act different, fuss more, things like that... even sleep more. It got to the point I would sometimes call the dr when his behavior seemed abnormal and say My son is autistic he isnt able to tell me how he feels but hes acting abnormal and running a temp. They were always happy to see him.
Its too bad your husband or his parents didnt offer to finish cooking dinner for you so you could comfort her.
Please get her checked out, I would even take her to an Urgent care center today, shes been running a fever long enough it could be a virus, strept throat, an ear infection or anything! Always better to be safe than sorry. I hope she feels better soon! Let us know what you find out.
Agreed with Michelle. My son's only symptoms of an ear infection were a fever and frequent tantrums. It wasn't til we saw the doctor that we found out that he had an ear infection. So make an appt! :)I rarely get on the puter anymore, but was reading all the posts and wanted to jump in here and agree with everyone. If a child has a temp of over 101, the Dr should be notified, if the fever returns (after medication), it is my HO that the Dr needs to SEE that child. There are too many things that it 'could' be. I dont care what the Dr thinks, if a Dr 'looks at you funny', it is not you that has the problem.
Our children (mine is non verbal) are even more in need of a Dr check when they have symptoms of illness. It could be nothing, then you say, thanks so much, I feel so much better, sorry to bother you, but I KNOW that you feel more comfortable too, since we all KNOW for a fact that my child isnt seriously ill.
If the physical exam doesnt show what is causing your DD's fever (that is a pretty high elevation (IMHO)), the Dr can check DD's WBC level to see if she has an infection. I can not imagine thinking a child has a fever OVER 103 because it is hot, if that is causing the fever, then she has heat stroke or some like complication of heat and that would be a medical EMERGENCY (IMHO).
My DS has had ear infection, after ear infection, his symptoms are fever and extreme irritability, crying that isnt easily soothed and decrease in po intake. Of all the trips I have made with him for these symptoms, only once did he not have an ear infection, strp throat, virus or some MEDICAL reason for his change in behavior and routine, and then when she said he seems just fine, she also said that I had done the correct thing, better safe than sorry.
Bless you and your DD, please get her to the Dr and if they look at you funny, tell them that your ASD support group just insisted that you do it :O)
Hope she is well by now! I know how difficult illness is, my DS was sick the ENTIRE month of May.
All my best,
Jean
well I have an apptment tomorrow morning i talked to the dr finally, she is ordering some blood work but so far no temp over 100.2! Thanks for your advice!my son just had the same thing, for 4 days he had a high fever. i have a holistic doctor so he didn't believed in giving him no medicine. but i ended up taking him to the ER and they said he had ana ear infection. he wasn't holding/covering his ears so i saw no real signs..(he has little speech)... they gave him a depository which was much easier.. refuses to open his mouth, i actually have to physical restrain him to get him to drink medicine. oh sometimes they grind they teeth. he is better nowMe too. I'm glad you have the appt set as well. I'm one of "those moms" that gets paranoid easily!! LOL I think as moms, we have a special sense that tells us when something is just not 'right'. I try to listen to those feelings. Just last week, Julian started running a fever and his appetite was nearly gone. But, he was not cranky or crying or any other problems. Someone said there was a virus, he should just ride it out, etc... I still took him to the doc and sure enough, an ear infection was present. Julian is the kid that if a small allergy acts up, it will lead straight to his ears! He is much better now. LOL I even told the doc what kind of antibiotic to give him...We see the doc WAY too much!!
luv,
Rachelle
Angie,
I missed your post because I was gone for the weekend. I'm glad that you have an appt set up. Please update this post and let us know how she is doing ok? Take care,
Karrie
Well that's good. We had tube as well. They are not a guarantee against ear infections, but they do help a lot in most cases. My oldest only got one while he had tubes in.Hey, I got to get on line again today (wonders never cease?). SO glad that DD is on the mend.
My son doesnt have the tubes yet, but long H/O ear infections, his go along with seasonal allergies (spring and fall) every time we get ready to put in the tubes, they (the infections) stop for a season or two.
My Cousin works with an ENT that does little else than tubes and they do not work for all children and some children need them replaced from time to time. My nephew's came out at least once a year and he had infections with and without them, his sister, had one set and they lasted forever and she never had another ear infection (Knock on wood). Our entire family has a looooong history of frequent ear infections (including me) that last through out our lives, some get less as adults, some (like me) do not.
Anyway, now that I have gave way to much info (guess it is because I rarely get a chance to give my opinion on anything...lol). I am guessing your DD is well on her way to a total recovery! Sending you and her my best! Those sinus infections, or even congestion, are no fun either!!!!!
Jean
Knock on wood we have been lucky so far! After the 2nd yr of her life having 22 ear infections we would get rid of on in one ear then have one in the other! there are 4 antibiatic that we cant give her because she is immuned to them! The tubes worked wonderes!! They also helped us out with finding out that she was PDDNOS everyone was blaming the tantrums and delays on the ears!takoda stopped ear infections with tubes but Brodey hasn't so it's no garentee.
I hope Veroniqua gets feeling better now.
Nelle
Well it turns out she has severe sinus congestion!she is on a de congestant now! Thanks
oh by the way veroniqua has bilateral tubes! She no longer gets ear infections!
