After telling this miserable story, let me tell you about bringing up my children. My daughter seems to have ADHD - she is a bright student but she cannot cope with stress hence she has had to drop out from her 'A' level education. First she was in the local govt. school then some friends of mine sponsored her to attend British International School for the EDEXCEL 'A' level certificate. Her British principal and her English teacher love her very dearly, but with her condition no one could help her going to school...

Now, my real problems that exist and go without any help! First my both children are not schooling

I have lost all hope! till I came to your website to pour out all my sorrow, no one even bother to listen before this.

I do hope your organisation could help me in someway to give us hope with LIFE!

Please visit my Blog: http://spaces.msn.com/members/sab-joynsad-memoirs/ This is the place where I pour out my sorrow and looking for some info to include the link at my humble Blog and I personally dedicate the song " A mother's and A Father's Prayer" to all the parents of someone with Autism. Hope it helps to heal your broken heart......

Thank you for reading this misfortunes message.

Best regards,
DaengSab

Subject: World Autism Organization

Dear friends from all over the world,

On November 21, 1998 the "World Autism Organisation" (WAO) was officialy launched during a ceremony held in the hemicycle of the European Parliament in Luxembourg in the presence of Her Royal Highness the Grand-Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte.

The initiative for WAO was taken by Autism Europe, starting from a suggestion by Hans Wulffsberg from Denmark. This idea came from two observations:

  1. So far, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has no office for autism nor publications on autism, UNESCO has no education program for autism, etc. WAO will advocate for such worldwide endeavour.
  2. The majority of autistic people reside in countries where services are either very weak or inexistant.

So one reason for creating the "World Autism Organisation" is to get recognition from such organisations as WHO, UNESCO and United Nations.

The other reason to create this new organisation will be to promote support to autistic people in countries where it is inadequate. This will be done through information programs and professional training.

The first General Assembly of WAO will be organised in the year 2000, coupled with the YEAR 2000 AUTISM EUROPE CONGRESS, in Glasgow, May 19-21. By that time we would like to have a maximum of countries from all continents represented. To that effect, please feel free to distribute this information to Parent or Self Advocate societies or to individual people whom you feel might want to join this new organisation.

The organisation that was announced on November 21 is the framework for starting our world wide support group. To that effect, we proceeded on Sunday November 22, to the formation of a first "Interim" council of administration in charge of setting up the future organization structure and functioning rules. The council was elected by the people present at the founding meeting. The interim Council then elected the following delegates to the Executive Committee:

President: Pat Mattews (Ireland)
Vice President Africa: Willelm Kabemba Lutumba (Congo)
Vice President Asia (Indian continent) : Merry Barua (India)
Vice President Asia (Far East) : Conchita Ragragio (Philipines)
Vice President South America : Isabel Bayonas (Spain)
Vice President Europe : Christos Alexiou (Grece)
Secretary General : Paul Trehin (France)
Treasurer : Joan Roca i Mirales (Spain)

The other members of the Council are:

Hans Wulffsberg (Denmark)
Evelyne Soyez (France)
Kees Helmstrijd (Netherlands)
Rita Thomassin (France)

The statutes presented on November 21 are by no mean set in stone. A slight amendment regarding individual membership was adopted on Sunday 22 November by the founding members present in Luxembourg and it is more than likely that during the period between now and May 2000, the statutes will need to be revised in order to fit the needs and preferences of autistic people and their parents. The Interim council has been requested to collect comments throughout the world and make proposals to the first General Assembly in May 2000.

If you wish to have the latest version of the statutes, version as adopted in Luxembourg, please let me know (trehinp@aol.com) or contact World Autism Organisation c/o Autism Europe via e-mail (autisme.europe@arcadis.be).

Yours sincerely

Paul Trehin
WAO Secretary General

Dear Al Amos and Michelle

Thank you for your reply and concern. Singapore is a small island at just 3/4 miles away from Malaysia in Southeast Asia region.and was once under British Colony.

Altough this small island has been declared a developed country but comes to Autism perspective we are still far behind. The sad things is, there is no Legal rights for the family of someone with Autism syndrom, hence therefore parents like me are lost in the fast growing economic country like Singapore.

My wish is if your organisation could start a WORLD AUTISM ORGANISATION, hence this will help parents like us to catch attention of our local Authority to be more aware and care about our welfare whether it to be at home or anywhere (as one of the sad incident that I could never ever forget was my children and I was chased out from our local McDonald's outlet as my son was throwing a bit of tantrum and I was tapping his chest to calm him down. Thus I went crazy, for the first time I yelled at the staff at the top of my voice. When I relate this incident to other parents, well they too experiences the same thing). How I wish this WAO can come true, therefore all the members could lobbying for each of us to gain our rights on this nasty world! - just think of how the organisation for saving the animals' rights is very LOUD and clear....

Michelle dear, I am sorry if I do not sound o.k as I am in a desperate position and not in the right frame of mind. All my dreams to have a HAPPY family shatterred! I was once a very active person and always emerged to be a leader where ever I went. I was/am the type who always give my love to anyone that came into mylife. There were always my siblings, friends, my former subordinate and even a stranger would always reached me for help and advice. I never ever neglected them at all. Now , I am quite lost..............I was so used to listen to other person's problem but I do not know exactly to ask for help when this and a lot of misfortunes fall on me and my family.

With Love

p.s - your forum page does ease some of my tension as I feel that I have someone who understands, to communicate to. Love

Although suicide is a choice it is the very worst choice. If you are no longer there then possibly no one will be there for your children, and they will always feel it was their fault, and that you ran out on them. So PLEASE never make that choice.

You'll be in our prayers, as GOD can comfort one in any situation. HE has his ways of sending relief in the most unusual ways. HE hurts to see any of us in pain, or suffering, but ... well free choice, sin, etc has corrupted HIS creation. Still HE is there for you. Seek HIM out. HE may not have any money available, but HE can give peace of the heart, and mind, anc courage. With that you will be able to continue in your search for answers.

Reach out to any local faith based organization, or local church. Someone will know something, and will be willing to share with you. Just keep trying. Don't give up.

As long as there is life there is hope. Don't ever forget that.

May GOD show HIS mercy upon you this week with some concrete information, or help.

All the best.

Welcome to the board DaengSab.

I am sorry for what you are going through. Raising a child on the spectrum is hard enough!

Here, you have the support from the board. Everyone here is wonderful. They listen and care and will offer support where they can.

I tried to do a search for Singapore and found their gov. site http://www.gov.sg/govtlist_A.htm  maybe you can type in a search for services that would help you and see what comes up.

Also Im not real good with Geography, but if Singapore is a part of Indonesia maybe the Unlocking Autism Parent 2 Parent Network  Reps in Indonesia   can help?
