Help their movingDoes anyone know about any resources or benifits for asd in omaha nebraska? I know some one that is moving there, They are afraid of schools, therapies ect... You could try contacting UNLOCKING AUTISM Also there are State Specific Resources posted on Karjab30 (Karrie's) site, as well as links for each of the 50 states with resources Nebraska or for any of the 50 states Autism Resources Go check them out.! Public schools in Omaha are not good for autism, but there is a very good support group, and if you push hard enough, you can get some good things to happen. The school where my dd attends just hired a new teacher from MN who has a lot of experience teaching autistic kids. Unfortunately, instead of learning better teaching methods from this new teacher, the district is now trying to fit her into their mold, and the bureaucracy really does not know beans about autism. Besides this, they are grossly preoccupied with trying to takeover several other school districts in the area. Other parents, even though strong advocates, have not fared as well for their kids. Also, some rural school districts have paid to send preschoolers to Project Best-Case. This program is outstanding, but very expensive if you have to pay for it yourself. |
