violance | Autism PDD

Share

My grandson is four years old and has PDD-NOS. He has become really hard on me this summer.  He head butted me knocked my teeth out spent 2 and 1/2 hours in Dentist chair only two weeks later to have my nose broke.  All because he is out of routine and wanted outside  and a dog.  So we had  to put a fence up and now and he has his dog the dog is great with him. But his temper is very short but he is out of school so routine is not the same. does anyone else ever have this happen.  His dr is going to change his meds because he has caused physical harm. i did not want him label that way but I did not have choices. Is this wrong  Help

Getting medical help for a medical problem is not wrong. PDD-NOS is not because of bad parenting(or grandparenting), it is a meidcal problem that needs medical attention. you are absolutely right to get help and not try to to do this alone, unsupported. The child deserves a chance to live as full a life as at all possible. Please don't beat yourself up over this. Get all the medical, behavioral, psychological help that you can possibly access. You'll both benefit from it. Please don't be afraid to reach out to others to support you emotionally and spiritually. You desrve and need that.

Thank you Janet I have gotten plenty of help because I knew nothing about PDD-NOS and the support from his school and case manger have all been supportive about his problems I just did not expect violance from him.  It was a shock but now I'm more prepared than before.
