Hi, I live in Huntersville, NC- just outside of Charlotte. Our child is (almost) 3 so we are just starting our introduction to the school system here- but I have talked to other parents already in the schools and can share their feedback. I can pass along some very good local contacts for assistance-like some one who can guide you thru the IEP process. I can also give you some local private school options. Please PM me if you are interested.
PS- I just got some summary info from the school's Autism Program Specialist that can give you a "rough" idea of where they are.

Did you read this thread yet? It has some info. you may need, we also had considered Asheville, we've been there and it was so enchanting, but we are moving up North for better state healthcare and educational services, we'll have to brave the high taxes, but it will be worth it.
Hello,
We are the parents of a 5 year old boy with autism and we are going to be relocating to Asheville or Charlotte. If anyone can let us know their thoughts on the autism programs in the public schools or share any of their experiences it would be greatly appreciated. We are not that familiar with either of these aeas and any feedback would be really helpful. Thanks.
