Work for our kids | Autism PDD

Share

I wasn't sure where to post this at, but hopefully if it affects you, you will find it!

I have been doing clinicals at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. I just wanted to let everyone know that they hire LOTS of autistic people to work there. It isn't degrading work or anything, I have seen autistic people mostly doing stocking of the rooms, and they are treated very well. Since they have so many autistic people on staff, everyone is used to them and their "quirks" and are very nice to them. They are given responsibility, respect, and a paycheck! They are treated no differently than the other employess, and I have heard many people tell me what wonderful workers they all are.

I just wanted to  let everyone know, so if you live around here, maybe it would help you out!

I am from Ohio also I have a four year old that has PDD-NOS  and it is nice to think someday he can have a great future. We adopted three of our grandchildren last year, they have been with us for 7 yrs. Our 10 yr old is adhd and odd. Our 7 year old is add and the baby is Pdd-Nos. Your letter gives us all hope for a future for our children. Thank-You so much

i wish i lived near there. son 19 and getting out of school in few yearss don't knwo what sort of work he will be able to do. No problem. I am one of those people that likes to have a plan. I prepare for the worst and expect the best. Sometimes my family thinks I am negative because my boys are five, and i am prepared just in case they live with me forever. (after reading the statistics, I figured out they weren't in our favor.) BUT I have all hope and expect my boys to live a regular independent, productive life. It is nice to know every option, though! And I was very uplifted when i saw these adults working. They really are good jobs, and honestly, I wouldn't mind doing that work! Just an idea for all of us parents!
