A little bit about Veroniqua | Autism PDD

Share

Hi Angie!   Welcome!   I have 4 kids of my own and my sister's 2 living with me.   Two of mine are dx as AS and HFA.    There is a lot of yelling around here on a daily basis!    It does  drive me nuts,  but I love my kids beyond this world!

They do demand more attention than other kids and we have made many accomodations for them  just to keep the peace.    Some would say we have spoiled them but this is not the case as I do discipline them.     Sometimes it is just smarter to give in to their demands because I know the cries are not going to end until they get what they want or need.   It is usually over such childish things like who gets to sit where!    It may not always be fair for the other kids but if it makes for peace...so be it!    Hang in there!

Welcome.  Thanls for sharing your story.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to give a little background about veroniqua and tell you about her now.

Veroniqua was born in June 2002 my pregancy was normal and i was induced 2 weeks early, thank heaven for that. Veroniqua cord was tied in a tight knot and we didnt even find out until i had her! If then didnt induce me because i complained to much she might not be here! At one year she got her MMR Chicken Pox Vaccine and Developed Measles and Chicken pox at the same time! That when all the delays started. Veroniqua had 22 ear infections that year and in nov. of 2004 she had tubes pplace. Veroniqua was in a in home program for early intervention. I expressed that i felt she may be autisic. In Feb we got a evaluation from a nuero. She said she was going to dx Autism that day but we need more test to get the severaty. Well on April 15 we got all test and we got the Dx of PDDNOS. Veroniqua is behind for her speach and her sensory profiles. Her social changes from day to day. She is very affectionate. But Everything is All or Nothing andd she makes that a point. She is Highly intelligent and can do things my 7 yr old cant!! She is definately different! Her teachers said she has days they would never know she was autistic. But for the last few weeks it has been pretty bad. She starting to throw tantrums all the time for no appartent reason, even right now she is yelling at me for nothing.

Well i hope this gives you some background.

I am glad i found this Board it has already proven to be Helpful to me!

Angie
