Hi everyone, We are about to schedule a follow up IEP meeting with our school district in NJ for my son Ryan (3 yo pdd-nos), and we will be asking for a ABA SEIT to be with him in a self contained classroom. Although I know parents cannot request a particular ABA SEIT to work with their child, Im wondering if, in the formal report we will be submitting via our attorney, there are certain qualifications/skills we should be requesting that this person has.
For example, my son currently does not display any interest in engaging other children in class and this is something that we'd like the SEIT to work on- facilitating interactions with other children and not letting any missed opportunities go by.
Are there any parents out there that have made certain requests as to their SEITs qualifications, or have you any ideas on what we could/should ask for? My feeling is that my sons chances of progressing in school and in his home based ABA proram, are based on the people working the program with him. If there is a lack of expertise or chemistry between them, I fear that he will not realize his full potential. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
