Need info on glutathione supps and lotion | Autism PDD

Hi all. I have a couple of questions about glutathione.. I know there are some oral glutathione supplements and the reduced L-glutathione lotion, but what is most effective? And where you do you get these supplements from? I only know of the reduced L-glutathione lotion that you can get from Kirkmans. Should these only been used under a DAN doctor's supervision? Well, I would love to hear from those of you who have used glutathione and what your results were with the different forms of it.. And if there are any side effects.. Thanks!!

I forgot to add that the transdermal is sulpher based.  Yeast LOVE to munch on sulpher so in some kids it can cause yeast to grow, but you can maintain a normal level with probiotics.

The glutathione you get from Kirkmans does not need a prescription because glutathione is a supplement.  The best method is obviously the IV glutathione (they typically give it with Vit C adn the kids love it).  We started using the transdermal last year because the capsule glutathione would probably not have been adequately absorbed because my kids had severe gut issues, such as yeast over growth, gut permiability, etc.  All of these caused the malabsorption they suffered from so it was assumed that it would not be adequately absorbed by the body.

The transdermal glutathione generally needs a prescription because the effective ones are filled by compunding pharmacies.  There are many different companies that indicate that theirs is better so the best thing to do is talk to doctors and other parents.  The only way you will know if it is working is to test your child's glutathione and/or cystiene levels before you start and check them after you have used if for a month or so.  If the numbers increase, then it is working.  This goes for the oral and IV methods as well.

Personally, if you can afford it, I would do most of the supplements under DAN supervision simply because you don't want your child to have too much of a supplement where it can cause problems in other areas of the body.  For instance, your child may need Vit A, but too much can be toxic.
