This feels weird to me... | Autism PDD

totally against fed law not to have a district rep present.  we have reschedule the meeting to may 3...i'll let you know what happens since i'm requesting additional services/supports!

Good grief!  They have a DRAFT IEP made up already!!!  I don't have a good feeling about this, but at least they will let me see it before our meeting...which was reschedule again...looking at May 14.

Ah -- now you have made ME decide to ask for  the draft ... thanks!Go to www.wrightslaw.com and search DRAFT IEP.  Lots of info.

My IEP meeting will be held this Monday.  I spoke to my advocate yesterday and we went over a couple of things including who would be participating in the IEP meeting.  I told her that the counselor emailed me on the attendees and that an agency representative was not listed.  My advocate then said to call this representative and to make sure she will attend the IEP.  I went ahead and contacted the rep but she stated that she would not be able to attend my IEP since she had other engagements...so no one from the school district who is authorized to approve any services will be attending the IEP meeting!  I asked her who would be authorized if she wasn't going to attend and she stated that the autism site coach is "really good" about knowing who to contact for approval.  I went ahead and emailed my advocate about this...it just doesn't seem right to me.  Do you think they're trying to pull something?

Well ,we drew the SpEd teacher, the SLP, and the diagnostician.

No OT, no "autism coach."  So  Iwil lbe interested to hear responses to your question!

Ok, just an update... the meeting went well, but we had to reschedule since 2.5 hours had passed and we had only covered the current year's IEP (we went over goals to see if my son mastered any of them).  It was just such a great experience seeing my advocate in action.  According to my advocate, the law states that there should be a representative there to approve/not approve any services we request (everyone there agreed that my son needed a para).  Unfortunately, the district takes a very LONG time to make decisions (red tape) so the rep attending could not approve/not approve our request for a para, language services, and occupational therapy.  But all of my son's teachers did such an outstanding job setting up effective goals for next year (gave us a draft).  I also provided them with some goals and objectives I printed out from the bridges4kids website...they were wonderful by the way.  So the site coach was going to look over these objectives I provided and would incorporate some into the IEP...she had most of them already in the draft.  Let me just say, if you live in Mandarin Loretto Elem. is the place to go if you have a child on the spectrum.  They really know what they're doing.  They've learned from my son alot too.  But they geniunly care about my son and I could tell by the goals and objectives in the draft IEP that they really want my son to succeed.  Also, my advocate is the owner of Quantum Leap tutoring services.  She will work with my son on social skills, academics, etc. during the summer...she is just wonderful.  Sorry this was long, but I'm just really excited about everything and how smoothly everything is going.  I will keep you updated as we will rap up the meeting this Friday.  Thanks everyone!!
