Autism & Aspergers fact sheets | Autism PDD

Barry, i just have to say that i love it.  It's easy to navigate and all the issues and interventions that are covered are great, all the wonderful advise, and great funding ideas too! Is there a search area to contact advocates, therapists, etc. in whatever state you live in?

My family struggled a lot in the early days of our journey with Autism to find practical objective information and support. I know a lot of families will relate to the difficulties in assimilating so much information from so many different perspectives, and trying to make sense of all the different interventions out there. Now ten years on, I decided to create the sort of website we wish had existed back then, with unbiased evidence-based information, and not selling or advertising anything.

I'd welcome anyone's feedback on this site at http://www.autism-help.org to make sure it helps parents newer to the journey. We are also chasing personal stories from anyone who would like to help others with their hard won experiences.

We are up to 250 fact sheets now which makes it the most comprehensive site of its kind to date, and yet we still haven't covered so many areas. Our brave boy is now 12 years of age and we realize more each day that there will be new issues to deal with for many years to come.

Thanks for posting this and welcome to the boards.

Thanks for the feedback, we spent a fair bit of time with other parents making sure it was eay to use and covered the main topics. The whole thing came about because we couldn't believe that autism associations hadn't done something like this already.

I don't think we'll be doing a contact page, simply because we hope it will be an international resource, particularly for English speakers in other countries with few support services, ie. India. Hopefully most people will find a local autism association for therapists, advocacy services, etc.

Please let me know if you find areas we haven't covered yet. The next fact sheets will be to do with helping a child make friends, self advocacy and diet.

Barry

what, no link to this forum?

Otherwise, it is terrific!

Oh how I wish I could have seen this 10 years ago. Thank You for this site. When I am helping others with new Dx I will refer them to this. Good Job Wow that is GREAT!

Oh my I am in heaven.

Looks like I have my summer reading already at hand!

Thanks so much! I am going to be very busy on this site I can tell already:) Passing the links to all the moms I know that will love all this information:)

This is so valuable! I am amazed and grateful. As a mother who is always
trying to explain and sometimes understand my child's differences, this is
an excellent resource. As a budding professional in the Autism community,
I am thrilled to be able to share your site with EVERYONE.
THANK YOU!

Holy Moly this is great!  What a wonderful resource.  This will save me a ton of time when it comes to helping field questions from parents who either suspect their child has autism, or is newly diagnosed (I'm a mentor mom).

I can only imagine how much time and effort went into creating this site.  Thanks so much for recognizing the need and doing something about it.
