ABA cost | Autism PDD

I have to pay 70.00 /hour for the ABA consultant to come to our home (to train us to work w/our son) 2 hour each time/ weekly and 20.00/hour for the ABA tech from her company to come to work w/ my son (3yrs old ) 5 days /wk. I just wonder how much you pay for ABA service / What is the difference between ABA therapist and consultant ?

Thanks

Sarah

Those prices sound about right. I have paid anywhere from /hr for a therapist with absolutely no experience that we had to extensively train, to /hr for one that was highly experienced. For our ABA consultant we paid /hr for consulting, and /hr when she did therapy with our son. This consultant was just starting out so her prices were a lower. But I have paid other consultants as much as /hr.

The consultant is the one who writes the programming and analyzes the data to track progress, and then makes changes. An ABA consultant should have an advanced degree, and should have extensive training in behavior therapy. They should have mentored with another highly experienced behavior analyst, and taken the certification exam to be a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). A therapist actually works with your child, and is under the direction of the consultant. I think the consultant should also be having therapy sessions with your child so that they know your child well.

gabu39080.2691203704the aba comes with the diagnosis, the dr put that he'd benefit from it and i received it, we had to change schools, the school he now attends has a program specifically for asd kids, they attend class with nt kids with 2 teachers in each class, 1 reg ed and 1 spec ed.  he recieves aba at school for the summer ( homeservices during the year for per-k,which he'll be repeating in the fall) they use the positive aba reinforcements in the classroom. it's a federally funded program, which they're hoping will catch on in other states.  i live in "taxachusetts" and luckily, i'm reaping the rewards. we have very good schools up here and excellent sped services compared to many states.
aba is provided thru the school district, free of charge where i am.
Did you ask for it in the iep meeting? Also did you have to fight for it or did it come easy?

Currently we receive ABA  through our  Infant/Toddler EI program ( First Steps ). They reimburse the consultant /hour and the implementers /hour. aba is provided thru the school district, free of charge where i am.
