My HFA son sometimes refuses to do his school work. This happens at school and at home with homework. The subject that he usually refuses to do is anything that he has to write. He says that he can't decide what idea to use. It seems like he has too many ideas in his head and wants to make sure he puts down the best answer. Any suggestions of how I can help him work through this?

Bring this up to the IEP Team and ask for help with orgnanizational skills. This sort of decision-making disability will very negatively affect him in life, so it's not just an academic skills but a functional skill and transition activity.Does he have keyboarding option at school in IEP? My ds has same problem and can type his homework if he gets any. We usually start with me typing at home but then once he gets going he moves me out of the way and wants to finish himself putting his thoughts together. We also did forego gym for resource room. This is where he is able to get his homework done at school before he gets home. This whole year I haven't seen a lick of homework since he's so adament now about not bringing any home - bonus for me
