Hi, our meeting is Tuesday just to discuss test scores.
I was given the option of making it inot an IEP as well ... my gut rxn is not to ... but at least they are ASKING, ahead of time! I like that at least ...
One word for you -- don't. You are better off spending the little extra time at the school so you aren't rushing through results. THANKS! I know you are right ... but the idea of compressing things is appealing. As a working mom that takes off for dr's appts, when he is sick, when he's having a migraine, etc - let me say I've done this and it is a HUGE disservice to yourself. It is rushed, you don't have time to think about what the results mean, etc.I already told em no.
Was it just me, or was her emailed "thanks" a bit shorter than usual ...
I told her I was still researching and thinking about what Tuhina's needs are ...
This is one time I really wish I did not have suc ha strong desire to be, well, LIKED.
Don't worry about it - she's just trying to rush you. That is her job. Yeah I know. And that does not stop me from liking her ... or should not.Be careful how much you like or trust this woman she is in a position to take advantage of that. Best to have time to think over the test scores. Get back to them and thank them for trying to make things easy, but that you'd like to have some time to ponder what you learn during the pre-iep.They called our first meeting an eligibility staffing/IEP all in one and it was awful. I thought I was doing the right thing by getting it all accomplished at once, but I regret it now. It was very rushed, I couldn't follow, placement was decided, I was reeling. Three weeks after my son was placed in a pre-k autism class in Feb. , we had another IEP meeting with people who had gotten to know him and I was very prepared this time. I was able to talk more about goals, although I still had doubts about his placement and felt he was higher functioning than the others. Just today, his teacher told me they want to meet with me about another placement with higher functioning children. Take your time and trust your instincts!Oh, my yes! I know it.
Not like we are chums.
I don't trust ANYONE who works with the schools now a days. Just my fair warning to you - they will abuse it.I am sure with the $$$ involved they will.
But I do not want to appear defensive or litigious from the start, either ...
